Changing Wireless Security on the BugSurfer

NOTE: It is recommended that you change your wireless security settings to be different from the default settings.

1. Using a computer that is connected to the BugSurfer III, open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.1 (Clicking this link will open this page in a new browser window)

(Note: This address may be different if it was specifically changed to coincide with the setup of your local network.)

2. Enter the username and password provided to you by your account representative, or your current username and password if you changed them.

3. Ensure you are in the Advanced Mode by clicking “Go to Advanced Mode”.

4. Click on the “Local Network” tab, which is the 4th tab from the left.

5. Click on the “Wireless” link, which is the 3rd link from the left.

6. Click on the “Wireless” sub-tab, which is the 3rd sub-tab from the left.

7. Scroll down to the section labeled “Security”. Select the drop down box to the right of the field named “Security” and select the type of wireless security you would like to have.

8. The page will reload with the selected security type. Scroll back down to the section labeled “Security”. If you selected any version of WPA, enter a password in the textbox to the right of “Pre-Shared Key” (ex. Str0ngP@sswOrD).

9. If you selected WEP, enter 4 passwords under “Encryption Key”. Click Apply at the bottom of the page when you’ve entered your password(s).

10. Note: It is recommended that you change your wireless security using a computer that is directly connected to the BugSurfer III with a cable. Changing the wireless security from a wireless device will result in being disconnected from the BugSurfer III.

You have now changed the wireless security of your BugSurfer III wireless access point. It is recommended that you write down your new password. You will need the new password to connect any wireless device to the BugSurfer III, including devices that had been connected previous to changing the wireless security.
