1. Open Outlook Express 6.0
2. Click the Tools Menu and select “Accounts”.
Note: If you have already set up a BugNet email account and are having issues, please proceed to Step 9 to ensure your settings are configured properly.
3. Select the “Mail” tab and click “Add” on the right side. Select “Mail” from the menu that appears.
4. Type in the name you would like other people to see when they receive an email from you. Click Next.
5. Type in your full email address, and Click Next.
6. Select “POP3″ in the drop down box as the incoming mail server. For both the Incoming and Outgoing mail server fields, type “mail.bugnet.net”. Click Next.
7. In the Account Name Field, type your full email address (ex. buford@bugnet.net). Type your password in the password field. Ensure that the setting “Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) remains unchecked. Click Next.
8. Click the Finish button to complete the setup for your BugNet email account.
Note: If you are a BugSurfer customer or want to ensure your settings are configured properly, please proceed to Step 9, otherwise, please proceed to Step 13.
9. On the Internet Accounts dialog box, select your BugNet mail account and click the properties button on the right.
10. In the Properties dialog box, ensure your email address is your full BugNet email address in the E-Mail Address field. Click “Apply” if you made any changes.
11. Click on the Servers tab near the top of the Properties dialog box. Ensure the following settings are in place:
- Incoming mail (POP3) mail.bugnet.net
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.bugnet.net
- Account name: Your full BugNet email address (ex: buford@bugnet.net).
- Uncheck “Log on using Secure Password Authentication”.
- Uncheck “My server requires authentication”.
- Click Apply
NOTE: If you are a WiMax customer, please proceed to Step 12 A, if you are a BugSurfer customer, please proceed to Step 12 B.
12a. WiMax Customers: Click on the advanced tab on the properties dialog box. Ensure the following settings are in place:
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): 25
- Incoming mail (POP3): 110
- Ensure the setting “This setting requires a secure connection (SSL)” is unchecked under both the Outgoing and Incoming port number settings.
- Click Apply
- Click OK
12b. BugSurfer Customers: Click on the advanced tab on the properties dialog box. Ensure the following settings are in place.
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): 587
- Incoming mail (POP3): 110
- Ensure the setting “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)” is unchecked under both the Outgoing and Incoming port number settings
- Click Apply
- Click OK
