Bugnet E-mail Configuration Example

This reference guide is to assist an end user when configuring an email client or a mobile device with a bugnet.net email address. This reference was compiled using Microsoft Outlook (2016). Your specific email client or handheld mobile device may have a different menu. Please consult with the support for that particular device or program, if you need assistance with getting the bugnet settings configured in a specific device or email client.

To Configure a new Bugnet email account:

1. From the main mail program, locate and open the ‘Email Accounts’ or ‘Accounts Settings’ and select the ‘New Account’ option to start the new account creation process. This may have differing terminology in your specific software. (see image below)

2. In the account setup process, enter:

  • Your name as you wish to have it appear in your email ‘From’ field
  • Your bugnet email address (MUST include the @bugnet.net portion of the address)
  • Enter and confirm your password for this bugnet email address

3. Select the option for ‘Manual setup or additional server types’

4. Click ‘Next’   (see image below)

5. Select the account type POP or IMAP

6. Click ‘Next’   (see image below)

7. Select Account type you prefer, IMAP or POP3 (POP3 used in this example)

8. Enter Incoming mail server

9. Enter Outgoing mail server (SMTP):

10. Verify/enter username and password

11. Click ‘More Settings’ (see image below)

12. Click on ‘Outgoing Server’ tab at top of settings window

13. Select/check ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’

14. Select/check ‘Use same settings as my incoming mail server’

15. Click on ‘Advanced’ tab at top of settings window (see image below)

16. In ‘Advanced’ tab, under ‘Server Port Numbers’

17. Select/Check ‘This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)

18. Port should automatically change to 995 (if not, manually change)

19. Select ‘TLS’ or ‘SSL’ option for ‘Use the following type of encrypted connection, for the ‘Outgoing server (SMTP)

20. Click ‘OK’   (see image below)

22. Windows closes and returns to initial ‘Add Account’ wizard

23. Click ‘Next’ to complete setup (see image below)

Your bugnet email configuration is now complete !!
