Top Tower Hand – Full-Time
Madison, WI

A Top Tower Hand is expected to be a safe and competent climber that is able to handle the most basic to the most complicated tasks. They are expected to be a tower technician role model and assist in the development of all team members. Need to be open to learning all technologies and cross-train where needed. Perform tower construction and maintenance activities including but not limited to assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning and optimizing antennas and lines. Ability to climb to heights over 100 feet. Ability to follow safety rules and regulations based on company policy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety rules and regulations as set in the Company’s Tower and General Safety Rules. Follow all state and federal safety regulations while working in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Be secured to the tower at all times while you are on the tower. 100% Tie-Off 24×7…No exceptions!
  • Work independently and as a member of various teams; run the crew in absence of the Team Leader.

  • Assist in training and project oversite, as well as site safety.
  • Identifies and maintains jobsite conditions such as tower and facility lighting, housekeeping, site cleanliness and fire protection.
  • Perform tower construction and maintenance activities including but not limited to, assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning and optimizing antennas and lines.
  • Maintain and repair light bulbs and lighting systems on towers.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in testing a variety of systems.
  • Safely climb towers, water tanks and work on rooftop installations.

Education, Certification, and/or Training Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • 3+ years previous experience with tower erection/modification/decommissioning.
  • Must be able to climb towers up to 300 feet with a 50-75# load. Must be able to climb a variety of towers with no exceptions.

  • Pass preliminary and random drug screening, criminal background check and driving background check.

Network Engineer – Full-Time, Exempt (Salary)

Position Summary

Responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and overall network performance.  Assist with planning and project management.  Assist in troubleshooting and repair of network and switching equipment issues.  Strong understanding of IP network design is required.  Bug Tussel will be implementing numerous new systems in the upcoming years.

Hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Directional Drill Bore Plow Operator – OSP

JOB SUMMARY:
Under guidance from the foreman, perform all duties as necessary for fiber optic underground construction. Ability to safely and effectively operate heavy equipment to include trenchers, plows, directional drilling machines, and excavators. Additionally, the ability to safely onload and offload heavy equipment to the jobsite is a requirement of the role. Performing tasks with a high degree of professionalism and workmanship is a must.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete construction work as assigned by the Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Participate in all phases of underground fiber optic construction to include but not limited to the operation of heavy equipment and the installation of materials.  
  • Perform job duties in rural and urban areas that involve a high degree of situational awareness of surroundings and possible hazards that may exist in a dynamic work environment.
  • Work as a positive team member in coordination with the foreman and other operators / laborers.
  • Under the guidance of the foreman, operate a directional bore machine, trencher, plow, and other heavy equipment as necessary.
  • Operate with a safety mindset at all times and follow established procedures established by the site foreman.

Required Skills:

  • Loading, driving, delivery and placement of various sizes of construction materials and equipment.
  • Occasional hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools.
  • Installation of fiber optic cabling.
  • Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
  • Work in rural and urban areas.
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary equipment.
  • Ability to work in challenging weather conditions.
  • Ability to learn and operate equipment and follow designated plans.
  • Must be willing to travel and spend consecutive nights in a hotel.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Fiber Design Engineer is responsible for conducting detailed network design for middle mile and fiber to the home projects. A strong background in fiber optic design standards and processes is a must. Additionally, the candidate must have familiarity with GIS based design programs.  This individual must coordinate closely with field staff to develop a final design product that will facilitate a smooth construction process.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with field and construction teams to generate detailed OSP network drawings in GIS software adhering to industry design standards.
  • Provide splicing prints and power loss budgets as necessary.
  • Complete designs on time and on budget.
  • Communicate industry best-practices to other team members.
  • Work closely with permitting authorities to ensure designs comply with local regulations.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading either a fiber optic directional drilling or plowing / trenching crew comprised of 3-6 team members. This person will be responsible for a safe, efficient, and effective job site. The ability to teach and mentor experienced and new laborers is essential to the role. They ability to keep the crew working as a cohesive team in dynamic field conditions is a must. Additionally, the ability to foresee potential jobsite challenges and troubleshoot equipment is integral to the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a strong safety mindset from mobilization through project completion. This includes but is not limited to travel to and from the jobsite, jobsite setup and breakdown, wearing of personal protection equipment, local traffic conditions and setup of appropriate warning signs, preparation for inclement weather, coordination with local authorities and agencies, operation of construction equipment, and installation of materials.
  • Mobilize the team to the assigned work area in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 3-6 individuals.
  • Be responsible for all equipment and vehicles assigned.
  • Complete construction on-time and within budget parameters.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of all equipment and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for radio frequency (RF) and/or Radio Access Network (RAN) design.  Designs, plans oversees the optimization of the 4G, PTMP Cambium and licensed/unlicensed microwave wireless radio access networks.  Work includes radio propagation modeling and predicted coverage, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition and ancillary equipment.  Analyzes RAN data to recommend optimal changes to RAN network to improve all the key indexes and performance indicators.  Assist Field Technicians in resolving technical issues.  Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management of the RF Optimization/Drive Test team. The team will be responsible to obtain signal coverage data by driving the network and reviewing the KPI metrics, from there the team will recommend changes to improve the overall performance of the network.
  • Oversee the creation of statewide/countywide RF designs for county board reviews, PSC grants and bond projects.
  • Responsible for the calibration of the drive test software.
  • Model specific new site locations to recommend the optimal antenna sites for best coverage and most favorable build cost.
  • Evaluate existing 4G and PTMP transmission networks to identify coverage issues and work with engineering team to resolve technical issues.
  • Work with frequency search companies and FCC as required to secure licenses.
  • Respond to department’s informational and service related needs.
  • Investigate new and used equipment for recommendation and purchase; identify ways to improve or cut network costs through efficient equipment, etc.
  • Data analysis.

  • 2-4 years of experience managing a small team of engineers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of wireless antenna structures, wave propagation, cellular networks and cellular phone operation. 
  • Experience in RF modeling using industry standard tools.
